Today Singel Uitgeverijen announced that the translation rights of Schemerleven of five languages have been sold. The German translation (Kontour eines Lebens) will be translated by Birgit Erdmann and published by DuMont Verlag in August 2023. The English world rights are sold to WorldEditions. David Doherty who was awarded with the Vondel Translation Prize 2021 for Summerbrother, his English translation of Robbens previous novel Zomervacht, will also translate Schemerleven.
The Slovenian rights are sold to Mladinska Kniga and the book will be translated by Stana Anzelj. She also translated Zomervacht (Bratov Kozuh) which was awarded with the Zlatih Hruska 2022. The Slovenian literary award for the best translated novel of the year.
In France Schemerleven will be published by Éditions Gallmeister. This will be the first French translation of novel written by Jaap Robben. The same for Hungary. The Hungarian translation-rights are sold to Metropolis Media. Both translations are to be expected in 2024.
